Stoking the Fires of Post-Production
Hello! Just a quick update to let you know that we are still busy in post-production, hammering away at The Grave of St Oran, slowly but surely forging it into a finished film for you all to enjoy. As suspected, figuring out a solid workflow ended up being trickier than it seemed, requiring a lot […]
…and that’s a WRAP
We made it! Principle photography on The Grave Of St Oran is finally DONE. Wow. The last month of shooting was pretty intense, putting in long hours to make sure we got in all the crazy shots we had dreamed up before the shoot ended.
the end in sight
Well that month flew past in a blur! With the end of the shoot in sight, we’ve been putting in some long hours in the studio, determined to get this thing across the finish line. Not long now…
a quick hello
Just a quick update to say hello, as we head into another week of animating. Lot’s to do getting prepped for the next handful of scenes!
what’s in a name?
A few snaps to show a little bit of what we’ve been up to over the last week. I think the image above is maybe my favorite portrait of Oran we’ve shot so far. Ellen’s artwork has really captured his expression perfectly here.
depths of winter
Despite the recent radio silence, the team here have all been hard at work through the holidays. A slow down in updates is usually a good sign that we’re just deep in the animation mines, focused on the work at hand.
breathing space
We took a break for a couple of weeks, so it’s been a little quiet around the studio lately. To make up for the radio silence, here’s another little teasing snippet of animation. Come warm yourselves by the fire, with our troubled saints.
fireside naps
After some experimentation, it turns out campfires work the same way as ghosts. Combining some dynamic lighting with our pepper’s ghost trick makes for some beautiful fireside scenes.
crow in a ruin
Had a little skip week there – I’ve been moving house so things have been a touch hectic lately. Regardless, we’ve had some productive times in the studio, picking up lots of miscellaneous shots that don’t involve our main characters.
change of scenery
We’ve finally finished with the chapel peak set! It is a crucial location that is revisited numerous times in different incarnations throughout the story, so we’ve been on this setup for a while, making sure we’ve shot everything we need. It will be nice to have a change of scenery.
